Let the Music Play - again

There's all sorts of changes with the sound systems

But essentially the early cars to about 89 or 90 model year had six speakers, one in each door and two under the rear seat and no provision for a CD

I reckon 91 model year, ie mid late 90 cars had the upgraded radio cassette fitted, with the CD function, and code, but the speaker set up remaind the same, but all cars were pre wired for a boot mounted CD Changer on these cars the changer was fitted under the tool box tray

The one exception is 2.9 cars, unless anyone can let me know differently, these were all fitted with uncoded no CD compatible radiod and not prewired for CD

Then 93 model year at the last upgrade, all cars with battery in boot had the 8 speakers as discussed and the upgade of the DBC 6437 radio to DBC11304 radio, outwardly indentical to the earlier model, but if swapped these radios sound awful in the wrong car, all cars were prewired for CD changer which on these cars is monnted above the battery, the underside of the parcel shelg is pre drilled and ready to fit the barckets and fixing bolts

With a special ISO attachment from Maplin (see below) I soldered up the wires in the car to this special ISO connector (its all labelled-BUT if you have 6 speakers you need to link the front L& sub left together and front right & front sub together) and then they click in place to the modern head units ISO plug. I used heat shrink tubing to cover the soldering to avoid any accidental shorts - I am using a modern unit as it has bluetooth integrated into it-it took a while for me to make this decision as I wanted to keep it all standard, but it seemed silly to keep the standard and buy another bluetooth kit when i had a headunit lying around with BT integrated into it! Below is the link to show you what the unit looks like-its something like 99p from eBay, but I got mine from MAplin which was £8-ish-I personally prefere Maplin cos if there are faults it can easily be returned, plus I dont have to wait for postage-Im terribly impatient!
